S.L. Gupta is the founder partner of the firm, and is also the Managing Partner of the Firm. S.L. Gupta has over 32 years of experience in a number of practice areas including corporate litigations, mediation arbitrations including international commercial arbitrations, aviation, infrastructure projects, mergers, acquisitions, project finance, business restructuring, intellectual property, capital markets, employee matters, real estate, hospitality projects, and commercial transactions. He represents clients in all the Courts and Tribunals in Delhi in the matters involving complicated commercial transactions. He has been appearing in most prestigious matters involving high stakes in DRT, DRAT, Delhi High Court, BIFR, AAIFR, and Appellate Tribunal PMLA.

He is a known name in the banking and infrastructure sector and has been the standing counsel for the State Bank of India in Delhi High Court.

Before setting up the Firm, S.L. Gupta practiced law for 17 years with Vats Gupta & Co. as a Senior Equity Partner, where he led the litigation practice and represented and advised banks and public companies on corporate and commercial matters.

Vipan Datta

VipanDatta is a Partner of the Firm and head of Dispute Resolution Team. With over 13 years of experience in banking & corporate litigation and arbitrations, he provides advice to the clients of the Firm on all aspects of civil and commercial laws, banking laws and consumer protection laws.

Prior to joining the Firm, Vipan has worked with a leadingbankin India for 25 years at various capacities and developed deep and insight knowledge of the financing sector. His litigation practice involves representing the Firm’s major domestic and foreign clients in complex civil litigation at all levels in all courts and Tribunals including High Courts, the Supreme Court and other quasi-judicial forum such as various tribunals. Vipan has advisedFirm’s various clients including the State Bank of India, the State bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, the State bank of Mysore, the Bank of India, the Oriental Bank of Commerce, etc. in a wide range of commercial disputes.

J. P. Gupta

J. P. Gupta is the Partner of the Firm and leads the practice pertaining to Construction & Real Estate. He has over 30 years of experience in his practice areas of corporate litigations, arbitrations, employee matters, banking and commercial transactions, construction & real estate and technology. He has considerable experience representing major corporate clients in various Courts, Tribunals, Arbitrations and quasi-judicial authorities.

C. S. Ashri assists the clients in handling the corporate and commercial litigation before the Supreme Court of India. He has been practicing in the Supreme Court of India for the last more than 22 years.He is an Advocate on Record for the Supreme Court of India. He has handled all kinds of matters and litigations before the Apex Court.

Tarunika Sharma

Tarunika Sharma is an Associate and is a part of the General Corporate & Commercial team including the Project Finance practice of the Firm. Being post graduated from National Law School in Corporate law, Tarunika has an edge over in practice areas of banking and project finance, infrastructure projects, project finance, joint ventures, private equity, corporate finance, securities, economic laws, foreign direct investments and corporate and commercial transactions

She has been associated with assignments on several infrastructure projects in different sectors such as power, road, ports, etc., where her role covered conducting due diligence on corporate and project documents, drafting and negotiating financing and security documents, advising on regulatory aspects of the relevant sector, etc.

Apart from LLM she also possess a diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from Indian Law Institute, Delhi and has also attended mediations. She has done a thorough study by way of dissertation in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility which is a burning issue in today’s era as the corporate world has the liability to make financial we well as societal benefits for the betterment of the entire economy.

Arjun Gupta

Arjun Gupta is an Associate having considerable experience in infrastructure related matters. He is a broad based Finance lawyer with experience in a number of practice areas.His principal areas of expertise include banking and finance related matters. He also has considerable experience in property related matters including legal due diligence of the properties, drafting of development agreements, conveyances,project finance, infrastructure projects and media business and other documentation relating to leasing/ renting of properties. He also has keen interest in areas involving money laundering laws, cyber laws and other IT related laws. Besides, Arjun has successfully advised the Firm´s clients including the State Bank of India, the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, the State bank of Mysore, the Bank of India, the Oriental Bank of Commerce, etc. in a wide range of commercial disputes. Besides his education in law he also had the degree in software engineering, which equips him in handling deftly the technical issues involved in the financing pertaining to infrastructure products.

Before joining SGP, he worked as Government Public Prosecutor and thereafter started his own independent practice in criminal law.
